Being a Stepparent Is Hard Card

$6.00

| /

Attention stepparent superheroes! I’ve uncovered a relic weirder than your most bizarre family dinner moments: an undated photo of two weird-ass kids. Remind you of anybody you know?

That’s right: I’m talking about your stepkids.

For real, though: Being a stepparent is extremely difficult, even if your stepchild doesn’t possess an otherworldly creepiness that would make Tim Burton proud. (I'm speaking from experience here. I'm a stepparent. It’s incredibly challenging, and the scariest thing about my twentysomething stepson* is his facial hair.)

This throwback to ye olden times makes a great gift for mother’s day or step dad day, but it’s also a nice way to recognize any stepparent in your life, including your spouse. (Hint, hint.) Let them know you see them navigating that labyrinth of emotional weirdness with finesse, and you think they’re f*cking acing it.

Or, as these two enigmatic children might say, “Merciful providence! You are a delightful, albeit fractional ward! Pip, pip!” Then they’d giggle for two beats too long before slowly fading into the mist outside the coach house or whatever because they’ve both been dead for 180 years.
